As the 2019/2020 Destination Imagination season comes to an end, also comes our 2020 High School Senior Graduates!  We are so proud of all you have accomplished through your DI journey and we are even more excited to see you move into the world as adults where we are sure you are going to make an impact.  Thank you for sharing your creativity with us over the years and being a part of North Carolina Destination Imgaination.  CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2020!

Destination Imagination made a big impact on my life throughout high school. It has opened many doors that maybe would not even had existed. I have been in DI for the past three years and it has been an awesome adventure since day one. My first adventure was participating in the state tournament and qualifying to go to Globals. It was a whirlwind, mega fundraising challenge. It taught me that if you really want something, you have to be creative and work hard. At Globals, I met people from around the world and of course, I got hooked on pin trading. I made many new friends from different parts of the world, some of whom am still in contact. Being able to perform at global finals is something I will never forget. Each year has been special; it is about friendship, being a team, and flexibility (especially this year). I know Destination Imagination has made a difference in my life.

DI has been a huge part of my life. I have been participating since my 7th grad year. Over the past 6 years I've created countless memories with my team members and coaches. Having the opportunity to express myself and develop my own individuality with my friends and even family through this program has been one of the best experiences of my life, and I am so thankful that I got into Destination Imagination! Without it, I would not be who I am today. I remember my first time on stage, how nervous I was, how bright the lights seemed to be, and how scared I was. However, over time the nervousness became excitement, the bright lights seemed to welcome me rather than expose me, and my fears slipped away while I laughed and created memories with my best friends. I look back now thinking of how all my "what if" moments turned to "We did it" moments. I often reflect to my past practices, competitions, and celebrations from DI and I remember all the smiling faces. I created an unbreakable bond with my teammates from DI. We are family, and it is because of DI that I have my best friends. I would do anything to go back and do it all over again.

Destination Imagination started out as something I did because I wanted to have fun in a school club. From third grade to senior year, everything has changed. My team members have been switched up, some have left, and some have joined. Destination Imagination has become a place where I feel as if I am with my second family, I feel as if I can freely express the creativity that is often suppressed inside. Due to the many instant challenges, spontaneous thinking has become a natural way of life and problem solving is second nature. DI ultimately has become a vital part of my life and I am so thankful for the experiences and relationships it has brought me.

DI has impacted my life for the better, I have made friends in people that I never would have if it were not for DI. Now these are my friends I will have for the rest of my life. I have been in DI all 4 years of high school and my only regret is not starting earlier. DI has also let me tap into my creative abilities and I can now see what I am capable of.
